Good plays can often be stumbled into by weaker players who make a move in hope, which just happens to work out perfectly. I do not think you could call these the best poker plays, as I think you would have to understand the implications of your play relating to your estimations of an opponents likely holdings in order to qualify. Also, laying down a big hand which is beaten, even though you may have waited an hour to be dealt it, is disciplined, and is good poker play.

The nature of poker is such that the best poker plays in a game can turn out to be meaningless in terms of the end result, or equally, they can turn a tournament around for you. You should always bear in mind that the most important point is not necessarily if your stack is going in the right direction at that moment in time. If you are making the best poker plays you can in the circumstances, you are giving yourself the best shot at still being alive when your luck decides to change, which it inevitably will somewhere down the line.
